Job Description, Music Minister: Zion Lutheran Church is currently seeking a Music Minister to help develop and enhance the congregation's worship ministry. The position is part-time and the salary is commensurate with experience, skills, and required hours. Demonstrable experiences include: helping to lead worship by directing choirs (chancel, youth and bells) and praise band, and drama is required. Education and experience in music and/or worship lead roles are preferred. Would ideally have the ability to perform solo vocals and proficiency with praise band instruments (guitar, piano or key board, etc.) is required. Would ideally be knowledgeable and experienced in Lutheran liturgy and traditions and possess both the ability and desire to incorporate the new Lutheran Hymnal in worship experiences, and, also knowledgeable in a variety of worship styles (traditional, blended, contemporary). Experience in developing and integrating ensemble into worship music is desired. A working knowledge of sound systems, media equipment and computers is also required. Responsibilities include: assisting as a worship leader; develop and rehearse an adult choir and youth choirs; identify, train, and encourage musicians, vocalists and worship leaders; schedule musicians, vocalists, computer and sound technicians; oversee, implement, rehearse, and encourage persons needed to present drama in worship; working with the pastor and church office in implementing technical support for sound and media equipment, communications (websites, press releases and print media, radio/TV commercials, brochures, videos). Additional competencies required: a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ; ability to work in a team setting; positive relational skills with adult and youth volunteers; an acute understanding of how excellence in music engages people in worship; positive role model; creativity; ability to develop and recognize personal boundaries; respect and uphold confidentiality.
